Every one of our trekking guides is registered with the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and certified by HPI, the official Indonesian Tourist Guide Association. That means legal Gunung Leuser park permits, mandatory training in ethical wildlife conduct and first aid, and always two guides per trek for your safety.

About this experience
Seven days is as deep as most people ever go. You'll cross several camp sites, reach parts of Gunung Leuser where the forest canopy closes completely above the trail, and have the time for long, slow observations of wild orangutans, hornbills, siamangs, and whatever else the forest offers that week. This is a real expedition: long walking days, simple camp nights, meals cooked over open fire, and nothing but jungle in every direction. On the last day, ride the Jungle Taxi (river tubing) back to Bukit Lawang along the Bohorok River. Permits, food, mattresses, mosquito nets and all camp logistics are carried by your porter team.
