Local Tips

From Jeri, with experience

Bring enough cash — ATMs in Bukit Lawang are limited and sometimes don't work.

Never feed the orangutans. It's dangerous for them and for you.

Pack proper trekking shoes. Flip-flops won't cut it in the jungle.

Internet can be slow. Consider this a feature, not a bug.

Book your guide in advance. Don't just show up and hope for the best.

Respect the wildlife. Keep distance, never touch, and follow your guide's instructions.
